About the Jaycees
|
The Manitowoc Jaycees was established in 1933 with 41 charter members. Our chapter's first president was Robert H. Cox and along with William Rahr, Jr. and G. Rolf Ristad laid the groundwork for the successful chapter we have today. click here for a list of Jaycee charter members. In 1937 the Manitowoc Jaycettes was formed with 23 charter members. Their first president was Margaret Gallagher. The Jaycettes existed until 1984 when a change to the bylaws allowed full and regular membership to the Jaycees for the Jacyettes. click here for a list of Jaycettes charter members. In 1942 one of the chapter's founding members became the state president for the WI Jaycees. It was and is a proud day when Les Vallesky was named one of the states first presidents. In 1981 the WI Jaycees started the most prestigious award at the state level to honor a member of the Jaycees. The award is called "Statesman" and is bestowed upon only a few Jaycees per year. Statesman is awarded as recognition of outstanding leadership and dedication to the Jaycees. The Manitowoc Jaycees are proud to honor those members past and present who have achieved this award. click here for a list of Manitowoc Jaycees who have achieved Statesman. In 2002 another Manitowoc Jaycees was elected to serve the WI Jaycees as president. Rob Reed was named 75th state president.
